new account

I'll be working on this more later, but for now, I've created a new account devoted only to this blog and w101 related items. I'll have to wait and see if this is going to cause any issues.

I'm doing this so:

I can keep personal stuff seperate
any e-mail generated will go to the new account
I can keep this blog fun... I said FUN! Yay!
other issues can be addressed

I don't think this will actually cause any notable differences on the part of followers or readers
W101 related blogs will be removed from my original account. They are already being followed here, I hope!

need blogger help and beaches

Heya guys!

I'm curious about people who blog for our most excellent game and if you manage other un-related blogs under the same account? I'll be looking around at other help tools for answers, but I wanted some input from my friends here.

Also my absence lately is because my family called and asked if I wanted to go to Panama City Beach with them. I just complained to Terry that I don't really get a vacation, since to most people I don't actually DO anything (like the 2-4 hours of animal care and then regular chores don't count) And they called right after! LOL! We headed out the next weekend, picked up Logan Spiritsword on the way, and proceeded to have a blast! It was nice to come home, though. It's taken me a few days to get back in the routine. My nephew was there and he gave me some basic tips on how to work with gimp and we also played with the wacom abit. I hope to do some good pieces to spruce up this ol' bloggy page, so stay tuned for that!

I guess that's it. Hope to cya ITS!

frostzilla and unicorns!

With the new updates, I went after the Frostzilla last night. Only took four tries, yay! I gave up on the diseased wildclaw and just bought it. Oh well.
OK, I also bought a unicorn mount, *girlie squee* Spent some crowns on gifts to the boy's account. Having a stack of crowns is fun, LOL!
I'm thrilled with the reduction on hatching costs. I haven't gone there yet.

Mostly, the boy has gone "home". Um, this is "home", but that is too. We spent time on the game and hopefully we can keep that up. At least until school starts. I'm missing him already.

Here's a couple o'links:

Tomorrow's another day. Today, actually. Hmmm. I guess I'd better do something about that. G'nite!

Dragon*con 2010

Just checking:

I was going through the guest list, but didn't see anything. Does anyone know if there will be a wizard101 meetup or panel? I'll be asking around on other forums. It would be great to get together with you guys!

laptop

I just gotta say,
I lovelovelove this laptop! I'm still getting used to it all. But a quick couple of tries for the diseased wildclaw have gone by swiftly. Some aspects need tweaking, like the backlit keyboard. It's rough on my old eyes!

new goodies!

The boy and I got the $10 Blockbuster card, so I have a new dragon!

Today was really busy. We upgraded all the e-toys around here. Tomorrow will prolly be spent getting stuff hooked up. Question: Have you ever gone out to buy something that was reasonably priced for something you just have fun with, and end up buying ... well. We went to buy the hubby his new laptop and me something for playing Wizards, but nothing fancy. Not fancy=not expensive or elaborate or super powerful. I don't need anything MORE. I had something reasonable picked out, and the hubby said I needed something faster. We looked at something else and I said if we were going to get the #2 we might as well get two of his choice. So... I have no idea what all it does or what the specs mean, but I guess it's a pretty darn good laptop*.
The bestest thing is I got a Bamboo Fun. It looks like it's gonna be a blast! I've been told for years I should get a Wacom tablet. EEEE! It has great reviews and it may be what I need to kick start my artist creative part that's gone walkabout in the past few years. I've already been thinking about my supplies and papers lately. I don't know, but if it can just be fun again, then that would be awesome!

Let's hope I still have time to play after all these goodies!
And I did purchase the crowns deal and we did go to see (Avatar) The Last Airbender

*To clear up some of my simple-brainedness, I have some medical issues and the meds I take mess up my memory. I can no longer access some of the skills I used to have. Processing is "off" so instead of going from a to b to c, somethings skip a or b and get c backwards. That sort of thing. Really frustrating since I know I used to know things.

Stone update

Nothing like a straight 12 hours sleep to make me less cranky! Really. I have to sleep alot. It's a wezl thing.

It looks like there is some fix to the Use the Stone part. I missed it but the boy got through it fine. He spent most of the day with Taryn and Logan S. having a great time roaming through the test realm. I spent the day playing grown-up. Meh. Someone has to do it, I guess. I hope tomorrow isn't so busy!

Vesna/Stone bug

So last night I decided getting on the test realm and checking out the Celestia stuff might be interesting. I got up to the Vesna instance and struggled through the multiple dialog issues, reporting as I went. After dying more times than I could count (karma maybe, since I'm rarely defeated anymore) and beating those $#*@!? Weavers about 5 times, it dawned on me that I should check the buzz on Central. I guess it took me so long to get it since so many ppl were posting about their experiences in the warehouse. There is a bug (-ish) deal. If you don't see the Stone after Vesna tells you she's fixed it, you need to hang out and some time later it'll show up. If you do like me and run around freaking out, leave, come back in, battle the Weavers some more, since that worked out so well earlier (anyone up for some positive reinforcement operant conditioning refreshers?) then go to WC to see if Prof Balestrom has it... well, you'll be out of luck. If you have a friend or two who didn't go through with you the first time (because they weren't really good friends to begin with?) or you find some random stranger who hasn't gone through the ordeal of the past several hours of mostly dying, warn them about the Stone and wait with them until it appears, maybe you'll get to Use The Stone. Someone posted it took several minutes. Some of us stood around for at least that long with nothing to show for it.

OK, I know it's Test and this is just the sort of thing to look for, but it just seemed like everyone was going on about getting past this and on to the warehouse without incident. If you're like me and maybe not the coolest kid to have an abundance of ppl running with you or other accounts full of GMs waiting in the wings, this is my warning to you. If you don't read it here (which you prolly won't) hopefully, you'll stumble across this thread on Central Use Stone of Mazzaroth before you attempt this instance.

I admit to being cranky about this. Going to bed sometime after 5 am tends to make me that way. Getting frustrated to the point of tears does as well. So, I think I'll go back to Live and do what I was doing already: aging pets to adulthood and farming for new pets and gold

I hope to take advantage of the

Hubby gave me permission to spend the $60, but I also want to see (Avatar) the Last Airbender this weekend, which will prolly cost about the same. As far as the movie goes, I haven't set my expectations too high, so maybe it will be somewhat entertaining. I expect it to be more like a train wreck-you want to look away, but just can't. I can say it'll most likely be very pretty at least. Obviously, I'm a huge Avatar fan. The kid and I have followed the series all these years. I still cry every time I hear the Little Soldier Boy song. Maybe I'll post a review.

Still here

And I know I need to get this place spiffed up a bit... But what online time I'm squeezing out of the boy's time is being spent on.... *drum roll*
house hunting! Something like Dragon's Fjord would rock! Sadly, I don't think the ice would last long around here. Popsicles are averaging about 4.5 seconds. But everything we're looking at has amazing potential to become anything we want, and we're weird enough to go there.

Some time was spent checking out the test realm. The boy tackled a few of the Celestia quests and I took over for hatching a black cat/supportive wildclaw kit. The test gives me a chance to play with that, just to ease my curiousity.

Sorry my input hasn't been as great as it was on the Advanced Pet test. Just the way it's been lately.

Not wizard-related:
We've had some RL pet issues. Momo, the greatest gerbil ever, passed away. His brother, Sokka, died late last year. Momo was over three years old. That's pretty old in gerbil years. We are now without rodents. No more hairless Rattus norvegicus, or Rattus rattus, or chipmunks. Um, for the first time in decades, I think.
One of our older cats is in kidney failure. We're keeping him as comfortable as possible. On that reveal, we also had Alice-wezl checked out. They had to knock her out for a blood sample. It looks like her issues were caused by over-zealous play with the Papillons. In typical wezl fashion, she's gone from wild, no fear baby ferret, to easy-going, sleepy mature ferret practically over night. At least, her health is good overall and she can still stick the landing on a three foot long jump! Love my wezl-girl.
Maggie (domestic skunk) will go for a dental soon, if her bloodwork checks out. She's 9 years old. The oldest living pet skunk I know. She doesn't do much but eat and sleep. She loves fresh papaya.
All the birds are good, so *knock on wood* it stays that way. We just have too many chickens living in the house. The chickies won't be ready to go out for another month. Coco crows every day from 8:30 to 10:30 am. The boy told my SIL he tried to set the Coco Alarm for noon, but it didn't work. Isn't he cute? LOL!

OK, prolly too much posting about the RL pets. I can't help it! I hope to do some creative writing about Taryn's menagerie. That's really what I was planning when I started this blog.

the boy is home!

Yay! He had an exceptional school year! He's pretty much got a free ticket for Summer fun! He's been playing other stuff (PS3 mostly) so we might not bump heads on playing wizards. We both hate using the laptop.* If I can get him to play, he'll be on his Pyromancer, Logan Spiritsword. I may be on Taryn Spiritsword. She still needs leveling.

*Last year, I was playing (NY Eve, 11:50pm) and smoke started pouring out of the battery pack. I didn't get to finish my quest until we got back home.

Not connecting

So, I figured I'd come over here and whine about it. It seems to be something global, server crash-ish type thingie. Maybe I should come up with something creative to post instead of whining?

I'm also experiencing difficulties with editing posts. you can't cut and paste? Or delete whole sections? I'm still stumbling around on here. It seems a bit clumsy and all.

you can't cut and paste? Huh. It worked that time Odd. Well. NVM then.

update
OK, logged on. Whew! And /whining. Good thing I got it out of the way. I don't do it too often. Usually, I end up getting smacked with a fish. A big one. Salmon or grouper, that sort of fish

A short excerpt from the historical journal, A Tribute to the Great Wizards of All Time and Why They Succeeded When So Many Failed

I admit, I'm slow. Mostly, my brain has already moved on and I end up completely missing the punchline.

Ch 19. Taryn Ravenheart-Grandmaster Diviner A wizard of no small consequence:*
Taryn's first 6 months in the Spiral were spent on Quests. Zipping through her courses and achieving honors marks were her obsession. As with everything in her life, if it could be done well and be done shortly, that was the Goal. Mostly because if it takes Too Long, she wanders off and forgets what she was doing or where she was going. After receiving higher education in the Mundane World and discovering Anything Anyone Would Ever Want to Know is available almost free of charge through the Online World (and by physically acquiring first hand experience) the decision to attend an institution of education in the Art of Magic seemed like nothing more than a mildly entertaining diversion.

She was quite unaware that her life experiences and desire for new challenges would enable her to become not only a proficient student of Magic, but a Wizard of such high standing and ability as to assist her fellow students and comrades in defeating the malevolent force of Malistaire Drake. After which it was revealed that the former Professor of Death was actually a mis-guided widower overwhelmed with grief and rage at the loss of his wife; unable in his command of the Loss of Life to actually accept losing it.

Having received highest accolades and graduating much sooner than she had anticipated, Taryn felt the Spiral and the Worlds of Magic no longer held anything of interest for her. She just didn't have the attention span needed to battle proficiently in the Arena against other Wizards, nor did she feel comfortable hanging around her Alma Mater, regaling new students with the tales of her great achievements and adventures. And yet, her desire to return to the Mundane World had waned. She no longer felt at ease in either existence. She was sure there had to be as yet unexplored reaches of the Spiral! That this simply could not be all there was to achieve and experience!

During a brief encounter with a brilliant and handsome young wizard, it was revealed to her that some of the miscreants she had defeated during her campaign to rid the Spiral of evil were once again causing terror and suffering among the worlds. She learned that it was also whispered in the classrooms and dorms that new worlds that had long been cut off from Wizard City were sending emissaries imploring Headmaster Ambrose to send aid, wizards skilled in battle and in diplomacy. It was rumored that creatures of all types from all worlds and places far flung about the Spiral were being captured and held by many of these Monsters. Some were enslaved sentient beings. Some were the creatures of the forests and plains, of oceans and skies. All were being trapped and mistreated sorely.

Taryn recognized her opportunity to continue serving the peoples of the Spiral and to Champion a cause which was already dear to her, Animal Well-being. She had always been fond of animals of all species. Her bond with them had throughout her life left her on the outskirts of social engagements with her peers, and her family. Her journeys through the Spiral had enabled her to come to know many of the different life forms that inhabit all the various worlds. Many times they had sought her companionship and had assisted in battles to provide freedom for their kinds.

Many new students, who suddenly find themselves free of parental confinement, with a little jingle of gold in their hems, make their way to the Shopping District of Wizard City. Some of them, even before they register for classes or meet Headmaster Merle Ambrose! There, they find the clothing and necessities required for their area of study. One of the shops offers pets for a nominal adoption fee. Some of the animals available at the Pet Shop are bred to assist specific magic schools, and others are suitable companions for a new wizard far from home.**

After settling into her studies, Taryn visited the Pet Shop. Her beloved ferret, Bouncy, had died of old age right before she decided to attend Ravenwood. Taryn never felt at ease staying in the dorm and hanging out with the other, much younger, students. Spending time with the amazing variety of creatures at Pet Shop was her favorite activity outside of classes. One morning she arrived at the same time as a delivery of tiny, newly hatched dragons. She was amused by how their heads seemed almost too heavy to be held up by their slender necks. The babies were tripping over each others wings and blinking at the bright light shining in the shop's windows. One drake, decked in the yellow and purple of Storm, stretched his neck straight up. He shook out his wings, and gave out a loud honk! He sat back, looking very pleased that he had gotten her attention. Taryn held out a piece of dragon kibble, which he snatched up and swallowed. He waited, watching her pull out another piece of kibble. Finally, he decided she was just too slow and jumped up on her shoulder snapping for the whole box! Taryn realized, as the little purple dragon with the full belly had made himself a cozy spot in the crook of her arm and went fast asleep, that she would have to name him Chance. She was also relieved that the dorms didn't require a pet deposit!

Do Electric Wezls Dream of Static Sheep?

Why Wezl?

Well, I've been the Wezl for so long, I'm not going to change that. It's been a part of Taryn, as well. Wezl is who stays up all night, seeking new adventures and new pets. Wezl loves to immerse herself in the colors and the characters and the action. Wezl is who keeps coming back, even when the subscriptions are due each month!

Business?
A business is the term for a group of ferrets. Like a "wiggle of Piggles"*, a "business of wezls". Busy-ness is what wezls do. And sleep. Wezls sleep ALOT! Especially when they get old!

So here it is! My first actual Wizard101 blog. My LJ and FB friends will finally get a break from my endless prattling over a "kid's game". At least I did recruit a couple new wizardlings out there!
